Cherokee County Superintendent of Schools Mary Elizabeth Davis today spoke at the 2025 “State of the County” program.

The regional Council for Quality Growth nonprofit group organizes the annual luncheon.  The event featured reports by Cherokee County Board of Commissioners Chairman Harry Johnston, Cherokee Office of Economic Development President Misti Martin and Superintendent Davis.

Four hundred elected officials and economic development and business leaders from Cherokee and throughout metro Atlanta attend the annual event, which is held at the Cherokee Conference Center at The Bluffs in Canton.

Superintendent Davis highlighted CCSD’s recent successes and work underway to elevate the excellence of student performance, School Board governance, district operations, and school quality; slides from the presentation are online here.

She was joined at the event by School Board member Kelly Poole and three members of Superintendent student advisory boards: Etowah High School senior Samantha “Sam” Stahler, who also serves as student advisor to the School Board; Woodstock Middle School eighth-grader Maria Cestary Carrillo; and Little River Elementary school fifth-grader Charlotte Hyde.  The students’ parents also were invited.

A video of the program will be posted online by the Council for Quality Growth at https://www.councilforqualitygrowth.org/.
