Little River Elementary School Principal Joni Adams

Why did you choose to become a Principal?
Elementary school is where the foundation for lifelong learning is laid.  As a teacher, I witnessed firsthand the curiosity, resilience, and potential within each student.  However, I also recognized that students thrive most in an environment where they feel supported, safe, and inspired.  As a principal, I desire to help create that environment on a larger scale.  My journey into school leadership stemmed from my desire to influence individual classrooms and the entire school community.

What inspires you in your work as a Principal?
My inspiration comes from the incredible dedication and passion of the teachers I work with.  Teachers are at the heart of a school’s success, and their commitment to student growth amazes me daily.  I’m inspired by their creativity, perseverance in the face of challenges, and ability to adapt to meet the unique needs of every student.  Whether it's developing innovative lessons or going the extra mile to support a child emotionally, teachers demonstrate an unwavering dedication that drives me to be the best leader I can be.  They are not only educators but role models who shape the future, and it is an honor to support them.

How are you Elevating the Excellence in your school?
At Little River, we are elevating the excellence by fostering a positive climate and culture, enhancing innovative STEM and technology opportunities for students, and embracing collaborative leadership to ensure every voice is heard and valued.  By promoting restorative practices, positive behavior systems, and fostering strong relationships, we are working to create a climate where everyone in the school community can thrive.  When students and staff feel connected and valued, they are more engaged, which directly contributes to academic excellence.  We are working to ensure that excellence at our school is not just an expectation, but a reality that we continuously strive toward.  My vision is to create a school where every student has the opportunity to succeed, where teachers feel inspired and supported, and where we are collectively preparing our students for bright futures.
