Little River ES Opens Sensory Space Room

Little River ES cut a ribbon last week for its new sensory room provided by its PTA.  The Sensory Space Room, designed with an outer space theme, includes features that allow students a place to decompress and self-regulate.  Subdued lighting and a variety of hands-on activities allow students who are struggling with their emotions have a safe space to work out their frustrations before rejoining the class.  Special Education Facilitator Katie Murphy, who spearheaded the project, cut the ribbon with Principal Joni Adams to officially open the room.  Students and parents and PTA representatives had refreshments and checked out all the new features.
